INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
SUPER TIANGUIS DE DIBUJO
(SUPER DRAWING MARKET)
SUBMISSIONS ACCEPTED UNTIL FRIDAY, JANUARY 16 AT 11:59 PM
What's the Super Tianguis de Dibujo?
It's the fair that runs parallel to our program of activities within the festival.
We are looking for projects that sell original works, prints, decorative or utilitarian products, that represent the art of their countries of origin and are in constant dialogue with the alternative illustration scene, fanzines, independent comics, and the symbols and references of various subcultures and schools of thought, as opposed to styles more closely related to fandom conventions, such as Marvel/DC comics or Amerimanga.
Projects with an exclusively editorial focus may participate in the Publishers Section call, which has a lower participation fee in order to level the playing field with the general section, whose products tend to sell more easily than publications.
Who can apply?
-
Projects may include original works, publications, exhibitions, retail spaces, and printing presses, among others.
-
Drawings may be applied in different formats, techniques, and media, such as original works, analog and digital prints, publications, textiles, clothing, ceramics, and others. It is ESSENTIAL that all products feature applied drawings.
-
Original and authorial drawing proposals will be prioritized. While fan art or adaptations of third-party works may be included in proposals, they will be evaluated with a lower score. Proposals containing unauthorized literal reproductions and work created with AI will be discarded.
-
All proposals must be individual or from collectives with a verifiable group history.
The festival is a VERY busy event, so it is not usually suitable for projects that do not have sufficient experience and product stock.
What's the application process like?
It is essential to fill out the form with:
-
Contact details
-
Short bio and conceptual description of the project or brand
-
Photographs of previous stands at other fairs
-
Photographs (or mockups) and detailed information on three recent products that make up your proposal
Be sure to read and fill in the fields correctly. Wait for the images to finish loading and do not close the window until you see the confirmation message that your form has been uploaded.
International submissions close on Friday, January 16, at 11:59 p.m. After this date, projects based outside of Mexico may apply, but they will have to wait until the national call closes to receive a response.
What makes an application more likely to be selected?
A concrete bio: Tell us about yourself. We want to know where you come from and where you are going. Tell us why you do what you do and what you want to create with your drawings.
Conceptual and stylistic cohesion between all products: Even if they are different formats, techniques, or collections, a creatively mature project will always ensure that all its parts are familiar to each other. There are no unrelated aesthetic or technical explorations between the works or products.
A diverse range of products and formats: Rayón's audience is very diverse and curious. They purchase everything from original artwork to stickers. We value projects that can satisfy old collectors and new audiences alike without reducing this to repeating the same drawing on five different media.
Artistic and professional quality in print: Higher quality production and printing methods (screen printing, giclee, risography, offset, or lithography instead of bulk digital printing) represent a greater return on investment for the artist or project. Due to their production methods and prices, some projects would find it more difficult to take full advantage of their participation.
Clear photographs: We need to be able to see your products in detail.
Process or conceptual descriptions of the products: Let us know what idea inspired the design and the product you are proposing, and the process you went through to create it. Everything that the photograph cannot show, but that you would tell a potential buyer.
When will you know if YOUR proposal has been selected or not?
For the first time, we have opened the international call for proposals as early as possible, with the intention that if your proposal is accepted, you can plan your trip in advance and at a lower cost. All applications will receive a response by Thursday, January 22 at the latest, but as far as possible, responses will be sent a few days after the application is received.
Applications that require payment exemption support in order to participate will be evaluated once all submissions have been received and will receive a response by January 22.
Can I also participate in other festival activities?
Yes. You can apply to teach workshops or give presentations. Even if you are not selected for the Super Tianguis.
How likely is my proposal to be accepted?
The national call for entries for the festival is very popular. We generally receive four proposals for each available spot at the festival. This is the first year that we have opened the international call for entries so far in advance, so it is a little uncertain how many applications we will receive.
The selection always seeks to present a balance between iconic and representative projects of the scene and new proposals to both returning and new audiences. Our decision does not reflect a critical opinion of your work, but rather how your proposal would fit into the experience we want to create for everyone who participates in and visits the festival.
On the other hand, we always keep a record of all the projects that interest us, even if they are not selected. This may not be the right time, but we will always keep you in mind for other opportunities.
What are the participation fees?
All stands will be scaffolding modules measuring 2.1m wide x 2m high x 1.5m deep. Table space will be 2m long x 50cm deep. During the month of March, all participants will receive a manual and diagrams of the spaces so that they can properly plan their setup and stock.
While the national section of the Super Tianguis will have a different lineup each day, the international section will feature the same projects on both days, with the intention of making the most of their travel.
The participation fee includes exhibition stand, one stool, lunch for one person delivered directly to the stand on both days, autonomous choice of stand location through our online ticketing system, directory of national printers and suppliers for merchandise production with direct delivery to the festival, stand set up manual, accreditation and exhibitor badge for access to stands set up hours and other activities, mention on the festival map and program, links to national distributors and retail spaces, as well as an individual profile on the festival website. Lunch and accreditation for companions and other extra amenities can be purchased in the weeks leading up to the festival.
Participation fees for the Super Tianguis De Dibujo are based on the different regional economies.
-
Projects based in Latin America and Asia: $240 USD for both days.
-
Projects based in the US, Canada, and Europe: $380 USD for both days.
Once selected, payments must be made before Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
How are participation fees determined?
In addition to the benefits already mentioned, participation fees are used to cover the venue’s rental, design of the website and social media materials, advertising fees for Instagram and TikTok, furniture and equipment rental, printing of informational and educational materials for the festival, signage, decoration, fees for operational staff, security, paramedics, cleaning staff, volunteers, and power generator rental.
The fees are approximately 1/5 of the estimated average gross sales of each exhibitor.
Is there any possibility of financial aid?
We have reserved some stands with payment exemptions for projects that are unable to cover all the costs involved in participating. If you would like to be considered for one of these stands, please indicate this on your application.
